Color It Wet or Dry
The amount of organic matter and the types of minerals present in a soil affect its color. Iron minerals can impart many colors to soils, which change in color as they become wet or dry out. Soil color can also reflect the presence or absence of particular bacteria that create and consume soil minerals.
