This is a photo of the layers that make up a Crider soil profile. Crider: Old, Forest Soils. Layer 1: Plowing mixes surface organic matter into the top six inches. Layer 2: Clays washed down by seeping rainwater accumulate in this layer. Layer 3: These soils look like this until about eight feet deep where they meet the limestone rock.
