Official State Soil: Akina July 21st This is a photo of the layers that make up an Akina soil profile. Akina: Very Old, Tropical Soils. Layer 1: Soil surface rich in decaying plant matter. Layer 2: Layer is rich in reddish iron and clay. Minerals washed down from above accumulate here. Layer 3: Lower layers are "rotten rock" that can be easily cut with a shovel.
