WHAT FUNGUS IS CALLED A WHITE DIAMOND?

A white truffle. Truffles, the world's most expensive fungus, grow underground in only a few types of soil. Since you can't see them, truffle hunters rely on the keen noses of pigs and dogs to sniff them out. A white truffle from Alba, Italy was sold at auction for $210,000! Maybe that's why truffles are called "white diamonds."
